300+ job seekers and 50+ employers attend Bluegrass & Hoosier Hiring Expo

On Tuesday, October 6, more than fifty local employers across a wide range of industries met an estimated 350 job seekers at the first Bluegrass & Hoosier Hiring Expo at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

The event, which brought together employers from Kentucky and Indiana, was organized by local workforce development boards KentuckianaWorks and Southern Indiana Works, in partnership with the Kentucky Career Center and WorkOne Southern Indiana.

Employers in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, transportation, food and beverage, hospitality, banking and finance, local government, the nonprofit sector, and more participated. Examples included Norton Healthcare, East and Westbrook Construction, Grainger, ISCO Industries, Sazerac, Omni Hotels, Louisville MSD, KFC YUM! Center, and many more.

“We regularly run hiring events at the Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Center, but this was a unique event on a far greater scale,” said Sean Killeen, Director of Business Services for KentuckianaWorks. Tim Renners, Director of Operations for Southern Indiana Works, added that “our organizations serve the same broader economic and workforce regions, and this hiring event embraced that reality. It should be easy for job seekers to get access to the best local opportunities available.”

The Bluegrass & Hoosier Hiring Expo was sponsored by WorkMatch, a job-matching platform for frontline workers and the employers who need them.
