Manufacturing employer partners visit AMIT in downtown Louisville

The KentuckianaWorks Manufacturing Employer Advisory Group recently visited the Advanced Manufacturing and Information Technology Center (AMIT) on the JCTC downtown campus to learn more about the center and KY FAME. The Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KY FAME) is a partnership of regional manufacturers whose purpose is to implement career pathway, apprenticeship-style educational programs that will create a pipeline of highly skilled workers. More on KY FAME:

Employer members along for the trip included Paradise Tomato Kitchens, GE Appliances, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel, LLC, LINAK U.S. Inc, Kentucky Trailer, and Zeochem.

The KentuckianaWorks Manufacturing Employer Advisory Group meets monthly and is comprised of workforce professionals, employers in the manufacturing space, and education partners. Our team at KentuckianaWorks provides learning opportunities and resources to contribute to successful recruitment and retention of employers. This year presentations have tackled labor market intelligence with KentuckianaWorks’ Sarah Ehresman, veterans’ services via KY VALOR, and Kentucky Manufacturing Extension Partnership (KMEP), just to name a few.

We are also increasingly bringing a focus on “quality jobs indicators” as a pathway to retention. These indicators include compensation, scheduling, and elevating worker voice. You can read more on that topic here.
