Kentucky Career Center and Power of Work program now open at West Louisville Opportunity Center

On Wednesday, March 20, leaders from Goodwill Industries of Kentucky led a ribbon-cutting celebration for its brand new West Louisville Opportunity Center. The 125,000 square foot resource center, located at 28th and Broadway, is expected to draw in more than 50,000 visitors yearly.

The Kentucky Career Center moved from its long-time home at the Nia Center, pictured above.

Among the center’s anchor tenants is the Louisville region’s new comprehensive career center, the Kentucky Career Center on Broadway. The Kentucky Career Center (KCC) assists clients with every aspect of their job search, from creating a resume to connecting to training, labor market data, and employers who are looking to hire.

"Investing in a new state-of-the-art comprehensive career center for West Louisville is more than just a financial investment,” said Angella Wilson, Sr. Program Director of Adult Services for KentuckianaWorks. “It is an investment in the limitless potential of an under-resourced community, where we can nurture dreams and cultivate career opportunities that pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive, and equitable future."

The Power of Work, a workforce program serving individuals receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits, also has a new location at the West Louisville Opportunity Center.

"The Power of Work program relocation to the West Louisville Opportunity Campus has significantly improved our services,” said Eric Hicks, Program Manager for the Power of Work. “West Louisville residents now have access to all the resources they need in one convenient location. With multiple programs and businesses housed under one roof, the Power of Work staff can collaborate effectively to provide wraparound services to our clients. I'm truly excited."
